Some icons don't display; instead of icons they're plain squares with numbers and letters like in this post by thorhammer. I've run into this once before in email but it's the first time in Firefox. Does anyone know what causes this? I'm guessing I'm missing some fonts but I'm not sure. Most of the icons display okay, just a few don't. forum.tarotsphere.net/post/591/thread |

I see a thumbs up symbol and a black square which looks just the same if I hit Quote then BBcode. I suspect this is symbols in a font or character set we don't have - possibly emojis from a different OS as they can vary a lot.

If I put a bunch of my phone emoticons in here... 🎅👻🌈🔧♌ we might find out. Edit: If I switch to my laptop it shows a different version of the emoticons so yep... diff OS could just show a cross in a box or similar. |

I see Santa, ghost, mushroom?, spanner, Leo on my Samsung Galaxy tab.

Now I think about it, I remember looking at one of Holly's posts twice and noticing the cats were different the second time... was slightly befuddled then but I must have just switched devices.

Away at moment and borrowed DH's phone to see them .... Is the third one a rainbow? I can see them now on Samsung but they were boxes on laptop

I installed two fonts in Windows XP and can now see all the icons, some in color. Segoe UI Emoji (seguiemj.ttf), this is the Emoji color font file introduced in Windows 8 and Symbola.ttf. both were fairly easy to find and download.
