Hello, new member I've been gifted 5 tarot decks in my life (and have never purchased any). The deck I connect with most is a Celtic deck, a gift from a very sweet friend. I'm not sure how to upload photos, or if it's possible? It forces me to understand the cards on more than an image level. Where this originally frustrated me, but I've connected feelings to the cards instead of studying the images and it reads beautifully.

None of my decks have been gifted to me. I have bought them all myself. I wouldn't mind having a deck or two gifted to me, however!
Currently, the one I connect with the most is Mesquite Tarot. For several reasons, the guidebook is written like poetry or literature, rather than a cut-and-dry RWS definition book. Secondly, the size of the cards. I have small hands and the cards are bridged sized, so it makes for easy shuffling! I do adore the pictures, but I collect beautiful decks so I couldn't place the art above others. (Each deck is beautiful for different reasons, but all are beautiful.) I will say though, I like the "abstract" way the people are drawn.
I love the Thoth. Lately I've been warming up to Marseilles-style decks.
If you like Celtic-style decks then I can recommend Druidcraft and Wildwood. These are not really "Celtic" per se, in the historical sense of the Celtic people of Western Europe, but are pagan and British-isle themed so they might appeal to someone looking for a Celtic deck.
Current soul decks: tarot Spiritsong by Paulina Cassidy I love the gentle colours of this deck, its very soothing and I like the keywords on the cards too. Current Soul Oracle deck: Native spirit by Denise Linn spin on to 4.12 for just the card flip through. I love the images and feelings I get from this deck, spot on readings and I like the spreads included with it as well as it being a good deck for meditating with
ladylane, on the subject of posting photos you absolutely can, but we don't host photos on the server (it gives you more control over your photos should for some reason the forum go under, and for myself purchasing the amount of storage required from proboards is cost prohibitive at the moment).

I enjoy creating art and writing very much so beautiful decks and well written books appeal to me greatly. It makes me sad that as I get older, some of the finer details of some very beautiful decks are lost on me because my eyes don’t see as well. (This is super frustrating when I am making art). But with that said, there are several decks I am quite taken with. The Gaian Tarot is a favorite. I also like the Pentamento deck. Again, there are several I enjoy but the strangest thing has been happening with a particular deck. I purchased the Fountain Tarot in November of 2017. Took it out, looked at it, put it back...many times. It always seemed as if I was looking at it through a veil. Well, over the last few days the veil has lifted. I started noticing that certain suits were more transparent where others were more opaque. Then I started seeing other aspects of the cards more clearly. Now it feels like details are jumping off of every card. Definitely becoming a soul deck although I did not even see that as a potential when I first bought it.

I have several decks that I connect with quite strongly. These are the decks that are no-fails for me...that never leave me guessing and provide me with straight and to the point insights so they are my most preferred decks for these reasons.
The DruidCraft Tarot The Pagan Ways Tarot The Witches Tarot (Ellen Dugan) Shadowscapes Tarot
I must add my beloved Rider Waite Smith deck. As the years go by, my love for this amazing deck grows tremendously. I always know what it's "saying" instantly. I never have to guess or sit with it...I immediately just "get it".

HOLMES: what did you use,, the living the tarot book , was it a course or a self goal ?

wildrosespeonies: Self goal. I don't have time to sign up for actual card studies class even though I know many places offer them online. I use the guidebooks that come with the deck(s) for reference when I can't recall a card.

wildrosespeonies: Also, I think guidebooks are underrated. They can put more detail into the illustrations and some of them are pure poetry. (Mesquite and Pagan Otherworlds being my favorite guidebooks for that reason -- language is amazingly used)

HOLMES: a book written for the deck can be excellent if it adds , the tarot of the elves talked about the story behind the minors, one was really sad.. the hudes guidebook , and robin wood was awesome .

wildrosespeonies: Ooh, Marigold Tarot's print guidebook is finally coming along. I think I'm gonna pass on the pouch though. That box is very sturdy.

wildrosespeonies: Wow. I just discovered a tarot maker on kickstarter who blantantly stole another tarot maker's art. (The art is the art back of Sinking Wasteland.) I have let SW creator know. But wow! Can't believe that.

wildrosespeonies: The artist contacted the KS tarot card maker and they replaced the image, but I'm pretty sure the new image is stolen too. It looks familiar, but I don't recognize where the image come from.
