I have 3, all home-made. My first one is a set of acorns, the second one is pine wood, and the latest one is made of chestnuts (Anglo-Saxon runes). Oh, and I've inherited one, made of wood (ash, I think?), but it was bought in a shop.
I have a set of amethyst ones, a set of Lapis Lazuli ones, and a half done set of silver ones I'm making from metal clay. Those are all Elder Futhark. I also have a set of obsidian witches runes, maybe they are onyx now that I think about it....
I have made mine out of pop bottle tops! I have the reg. Runes, Dream-stones, crows-tones, Tao stones, and now ready to start a dragon rune set as well! I store each set in their own glass jar... and I "throw" them into a Christmas type shallow bowl/platter type container.
I have an adventurine set that I bought in 94 or so. The gold has long since come off of the rune images, and a couple of them have broken and been glued back together. They're in the same little goatskin bag I bought for them back then. They worked very well for me, but I retired them out respect - if I was that beat up, I certainly wouldn't want to work too often!
The next oldest is a set I made out of oak slices. I painted them red and used a wood burner. The Laguz rune got lost in a move, though. Those live in a little ceramic crock awaiting a replacement for Laguz.
The newest is a moss agate set in a bison tobacco pouch.
And those are all my Elder Futhark sets.
I do have Chronata's Crowstones, and her Hallowstones. They work great! I don't really think if them as runes, though. They're full images, albiet tiny.
And a set of Witch's Runes in amethyst. Those are almost like a reduced Lenormand, you can see the Lenormand influence.

I have a set of yew wood runes I got from Tara Hill Designs many years ago and a set of bone runes I picked up in a local shop. I have been considering getting silver rune dice from Badali Jewelry for a while, but I haven't done it yet.
Sadly I don't have the dexterity or fine motor skills to create my runes from scratch for myself but my set are holly wood created by a lovely lady on Ebay called Greenwoman crafts. The symbols are pyrographed (wood burnt) on to the beautifully sanded wood.
The Crow stones I saw on the link you put up, very much remind me of the lenormand system, stars, sun, moon, letter, snake, etc. Are they the same system just in a stone format in stones instead of cards?

wildrosespeonies: If you need a Robb Stark fill, with a happier outcome, I rec "Medici Masters of Florence" on netflix, with "Walder Frey" even making a cameo to marry off his daughter to poor Cosimo. (I KID YOU NOT!) Still not over Lena being a tarot reader though.

wildrosespeonies: Today I completed my studies of the 22 major arcana. (It has taken me 2 and half years before I slack.) Now onto the minors! I love as I get more decks putting the pictures by each other to see how they compare/contrast.

wildrosespeonies: But I STILL will pull out that guidebook when I do draws. It is really more the minor arcana is why I started doing the card studies. Cuz i can never remember how they differ.

HOLMES: what did you use,, the living the tarot book , was it a course or a self goal ?
Apr 25, 2019 1:11:40 GMT
wildrosespeonies: Self goal. I don't have time to sign up for actual card studies class even though I know many places offer them online. I use the guidebooks that come with the deck(s) for reference when I can't recall a card.

wildrosespeonies: Also, I think guidebooks are underrated. They can put more detail into the illustrations and some of them are pure poetry. (Mesquite and Pagan Otherworlds being my favorite guidebooks for that reason -- language is amazingly used)

HOLMES: a book written for the deck can be excellent if it adds , the tarot of the elves talked about the story behind the minors, one was really sad.. the hudes guidebook , and robin wood was awesome .

wildrosespeonies: Ooh, Marigold Tarot's print guidebook is finally coming along. I think I'm gonna pass on the pouch though. That box is very sturdy.

wildrosespeonies: My local witchy store is closing so I bought supplies from there today. They will last a good while before I have to turn to etsy again.
