I use the Celtic Cross sometimes in whatever form is handy at the time. I always got stumped by the position called "hopes and fears". I couldn't get comfortable with that one. What I started doing that helped tremendously, though, was to read the card in the upright position as the hopes and then I used a crossing card on that one and let the crossing card represent fears. It makes perfect sense to me because the hopes could be stymied by the client's fears around that particular issue.
Another thing I've found interesting but that will be more for the advanced readers is to lay out a Celtic Cross but use three cards per position. It's a huge spread, but if one has the time to get through it, it's pretty interesting.

wildrosespeonies: Wow. I just discovered a tarot maker on kickstarter who blantantly stole another tarot maker's art. (The art is the art back of Sinking Wasteland.) I have let SW creator know. But wow! Can't believe that.

wildrosespeonies: The artist contacted the KS tarot card maker and they replaced the image, but I'm pretty sure the new image is stolen too. It looks familiar, but I don't recognize where the image come from.

wildrosespeonies: TeaAndTarot. Probably the Tarot Deck Discussion would be the best place, as you are just studying one specific deck. But make sure to check the whole thread as there might already be a Wooden Tarot thread already.
